Founder’s note
Since starting as a graduate commercial banker in 2000 and through many career iterations since then as a corporate banker, private equity advisor, fund manager, director and CEO, I have had two constant themes: the responsibility of managing a portfolio of clients and the fun and satisfaction of working across multiple industries and teams in parallel to support the achievement of their objectives. For me, the Company Secretary role embodies the best of these elements, and it energises me to strive each day to maximise the interests of our clients and their stakeholders. Managing Director and Chartered Company Secretary
Adam is the founder and Managing Director of ACG Partners. Adam has over 25 years of experience across corporate governance, compliance and strategy. He holds a Bachelor of Economics, a Masters in Commerce and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance from the Governance Institute of Australia. Adam’s professional career includes roles as a Company Secretary for several ASX-listed companies, where he successfully implemented governance frameworks, addressed compliance challenges, and facilitated growth initiatives. With a strong track record of steering companies through complex regulatory environments and aligning governance practices with shareholder interests, Adam is a Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia (FGIA). His expertise spans mergers and acquisitions, investor relations, and board advisory roles.
Cara-Lee Martens
Operations Director and Chartered Company Secretary
Cara is a Chartered Secretary and is the Operations Director at ACG Partners. As a Chartered Accountant with 8 years of external and internal audit experience at a Big4 firm, she brings a wealth of expertise to her role. Additionally, Cara is a qualified lawyer and completed her PLT placement with Minter Ellison. She has company secretary and governance experience across listed and unlisted public companies. She has completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Corporate Governance and Risk Management with the Governance Institute of Australia.
Carol Wake
Business Manager
Carol has spent over 35 years working in various administrative, public relations, and marketing roles for one of Australia’s major banks. During this time, she had the pleasure of working with Adam for a period. In 2015, Adam invited Carol to join him in providing administrative assistance for the management of his businesses. Over the years, her role has evolved alongside the growth and changes in the business structure. Now, as part of ACG Partners, Carol works part-time, primarily behind the scenes, handling accounts
Ange Harrison
Portfolio Manager
Ange is a skilled governance professional with a strong background in administrative and organisational roles, playing a key role in supporting corporate compliance and operations. She works closely with the other Company Secretaries to maintain best practices in corporate governance, ensuring regulatory requirements are met and contributing to the organisation’s success. With extensive experience working alongside clients, stakeholders, and colleagues, Ange has developed strong interpersonal skills that help her foster effective relationships and smooth collaboration across teams. As an Affiliate member of the Governance Institute of Australia, she is committed to ongoing professional development and is currently undertaking postgraduate studies in applied corporate governance and risk management to further strengthen her expertise.
Adam has been instrumental in building the Company through each of its key phases and milestones to enable it to become the global environmental technology company that it is today.
Personable, knowledgeable, experienced, good communication skills, efficient and understanding of the requirements are what we look for in a company secretary. Adam has it in spades, and he is a nice guy, to top it off.
